Enrolling in Credit Advancement

Credit Advancement allows eligible Lenoir City Schools students to earn new academic credit through online coursework offered by the iLearn Institute.

Courses are:

• Approved by the Tennessee Department of Education
• Aligned to Tennessee Academic Standards
• Taught by Tennessee-certified teachers
• Completed online with support from iLearn staff

Credit Advancement is intended for motivated students who can successfully manage an online learning environment while maintaining their regular school responsibilities.

Before You Enroll

Students should:

• Discuss course selection with their school counselor.
• Ensure the course fits their graduation or academic plan.
• Commit to completing coursework by all required deadlines.
• Participate in required orientations or teacher meetings.

Students needing to repeat a previously failed course should contact their school counselor regarding Credit Recovery options rather than Credit Advancement.

Students are most successful when they:

• Set aside time each week for coursework.
• Stay on pace with assignments.
• Communicate with their teacher when questions arise.
• Notify their teacher before extended absences.
• Ask for help early if they begin falling behind.

Students Receiving Special Education Services

Students with IEPs or Section 504 Plans may participate in Credit Advancement. Appropriate accommodations and supports will be provided as determined by the student's educational plan. Families with questions about placement or accommodations should contact the student's case manager or the Lenoir City Schools Department of Special Education.

How to Enroll

1. Review the available course list.
2. Watch the enrollment tutorial video​​​​​​. 
   • Log in to Genius, or create an account if you are a new user.
     • Either Sign In or Create an Account
       • If creating a new account, please enter all information carefully to ensure your registration can be processed correctly.
     • From the left navigation menu, select Request Course.
     • Click Request New Course.
       • Select the appropriate term or semester from the drop-down menu.
       • Choose the correct start date.
       • Select your desired course from the course list.

         • Please Note: Genius displays all courses offered through iLearn Institute. However, not all courses are available for Credit Advancement. Please refer to the Fall 2026 Credit Advancement Course Offerings listed on this page before submitting your request.

3. Wait for course approval.
4. A ParentSquare payment request will be sent to the parent or guardian.
5. Once payment is received, the student will receive orientation information and course access.
