The iLearn Institute at Lenoir City Schools is excited to open our doors to student athletes. We utilize courses developed by Florida Virtual School as well as Edgenuity which are both approved curriculums by the NCAA. Students who complete NCAA approved courses have the opportunity to establish their NCAA eligibility to play college sports. This means that any student who has completed approved iLearn courses has the chance to participate in and obtain scholarships for college athletics.
If a student wants to play sports at an NCAA Division I or II school, he or she should start by registering for a Certification Account with the NCAA Eligibility Center at eligibilitycenter.org. If the student wants to play Division III sports or the student athlete is not sure where he or she wants to compete, start by creating a Profile Page at eligibilitycenter.org.
Students who are interested in trying out for a sports team at Lenoir City High School or Lenoir City Intermediate/Middle School should indicate this early in the application process. The TSSAA does have a cut off date for enrollment in order to be eligible to play and we want to make sure we meet that timeline. Students must be enrolled in the district as a full time student to be eligible for TSSAA athletic participation.
Current TSSAA guidelines state that any student who has played a TSSAA-sponsored sport in the last 12 months would be ineligible to participate in that sport for one school year if they transferred from Lenoir City High School to the iLearn Institute. The rules governing all other transfer situations remain the same.
The iLearn Institute partners with Lenoir City High School on most sports, allowing iLearn students to compete alongside students from LCHS.
